Easter Week Mini Game Results !

By: Kevin Picone Added: May 12th, 2011

Category: All,Games,Competitions

The Easter mini game challenge ended a little over a week ago, followed by a week of community polling to award the winner. Unfortunately we had some issues with the first poll and ended up having to run a second. So it took a little longer than we’d hoped. But the results are finally in.

Before we get to the winner, we’d just like to congratulate the contestants for their outstanding efforts given the limited time frame. I’d go as far to say, they’re potentially some of best submissions so far.

Since this was a community competition and given the limited number of submissions we’re gone purely on the community votes when awarding the winner. Which was Micky4fun with his Egg Selector with 8 votes, with Balaporte’s game Egg Hunt taking second place with 3 votes.

So congratulations to Mick for another fine effort!

2011 Easter Game Programming Challenge Begins

By: Kevin Picone Added: April 16th, 2011

Category: All,Games,Competitions

In the spirit of a little Easter holiday fun, we're setting the PlayBasic community a week long design and programming challenge. The objective here is to cut through the fat and get to the core of your game idea fast, without the inevitable feature creep. So the game designer needs to formulate their concept, then build a working prototype of the game within 7 days or less. (16th/April/2011 - 24th/April/2011)

Easter 2011 Mini Game Programming Competition Survey

It's been a while since we had any sort of programming competition around here, so perhaps it's time for a MINI compo. What's that ? - It'd a be competition held within a short time frame, from anywhere between say over the Easter long weekend (3 days) as far out as about a week.

In terms of a theme, then the most obvious would be Easter eggs, the genre of game would be up to you.

 Casual Creations Competition Begins

Category: All,Competitions

For our 2009 programming competition our theme is perhaps the most open in terms of skill and interpretation we've ever had, and can be summarized as:

In 2009, PlayBasic game programmers/designers objective is to create a casual game experience, consisting of a main theme broken up into an least 3 (or more) mini / sub games. The game design should attempt to cohesively connect the various mini games together (in any way you see fit), so they're seen as elements of the overall games design and not just 'random' game ideas stuck together.
